Breeding a dog

Just early december of last year, my mother adopted a local puppy from a friend which is just two months old. In our country, we call them aspin (short for "Asong Pinoy" or Philippine Dog). The dog has pure white coat and also a male so I decided to call him Bolt (from an animated movie of a hero dog). Bolt is very trainable. Just after two weeks of living with us, I could already teach him to retrieve his toy and bring it to me. He is really smart and I'm fond of him.

Here are some photos of Bolt last december of 2014.

sb The sad part of the story here was he just recently passed away last 14th of February 2015 just after his 4th month. The cause of death was not clear. He could have been poisoned unintentionally since he's been playing with neighbor's children and he might have been fed with chocolate.

It was a sad moment and a month after I decided write this post to share that moment and also to bring up an idea of breeding a dog.

Breeding what dog

Trying to figure out which is not an easy feat. I started looking up and following post in instragram. My first choice was a labrador because I'm thinking of getting a cream coated puppy and name him Bolt as a replacement. But I thought that wouldn't be fair at all so then I continued pondering.

Labrador Litter

Labrador Litter

I learn to like the labrador more because of the color that you could choose from which are yellow, brown and black. It's rare to see a pure breed labrador mixed with different color.

But something is missing, I would like a dog that can be a very good house guard. I don't think labradors are the breed for that. I would like the dog to look intimidating but not aggressive that it will just attack anybody in sight.

Bully Puppy

Bully Puppy

I was considering a dobermann pinscher or a bully pitbull. From those two, I like the dobermann's coat over that of pitbull but I prefer the bulky built type of the latter.

Dobie Puppy

With this consideration in mind, my preference would be a great guard dog with the black/red rust colored coat and bulky size.

Will I ever find a dobie that is bulky or a bully with black/rust coat? I guess I could but that will be extremely rare and not to mention expensive.

So I look elsewhere.. After days of looking up classified ads, I found this site in the PH, http://mypetfinderph.com. This made my life alot easier.

It was here where I find the breed that perfectly matched my preferences that is a Rottweiler.

Rottie Puppy

This is the breed that I am thinking of getting and I already know a breeder that could deliver one with a pedigree. The only constraint now is that litter are available only in the last quarter of the year.

I'll just have to wait for the mean time. I'm excited.
